Aerospace
For many years, Nitrex has been a part of the many segments of the ever-evolving aerospace industry: aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, aero engines, helicopters, satellites, space vehicles, rockets, missiles, and other upcoming innovative forms of air travel like drones and UAMs. Heat treating has always played a significant role in aerospace and space exploration history. It will continue to play a part in these fields with innovations such as additive manufacturing, meeting the need for lighter critical components that have higher temperature resistance for better fuel efficiency, and bringing new or previously hard-to-machine metals into the aerospace material mix. Nitrex’s technologies and product offerings work in tandem with the aerospace industry and its innovations.Agriculture
Heat-treatment technology in agricultural engineering is constantly evolving and improving. Large agricultural and forestry machines can be extremely expensive, so reliability is of the utmost importance. Machines must be able to operate continuously when needed, with minimal downtime for repairs. Consequently, the gears and pinions in these machines must be able to operate under hard conditions for very long periods. Gear teeth are particularly susceptible to wear from the continual rubbing of one tooth against another. Moreover, constant loading and unloading make them susceptible to fatigue failure. Nitrex uses different techniques to increase the life of gears, such as nitrocarburizing and nitriding, which increase the hardness at the tooth surface but maintain the original toughness in the core of each tooth. Working with the agriculture industry and supply chain for over three decades, Nitrex has developed process- and application-specific know-how to help companies achieve process optimization in manufacturing, as well as to ensure that heat-treated components meet or exceed performance and design expectations.Aluminum Extrusion
Extrusion is an aluminum-transformation process that delivers infinite possibilities in the design of structural and architectural profiles. The aluminum-extrusion process uses flexible low-cost tooling that enables fast product development and prototyping and the production of a wide range of shapes. For aluminum-extrusion companies, the right choice of materials and the correct heat treatments are essential to lengthen the useful life of dies. Nitrex solutions effectively improve the wear resistance of dies to withstand thermal and mechanical stresses, giving maximum die life, throughput, and quality of extruded products.Automotive
Working with automotive OEMs and the supply chain industry for over three decades, we have developed process- and application-specific know-how to help companies achieve process optimization in manufacturing as well as ensure that heat treated automotive components meet or exceed performance and design expectations. High-end manufacturers of luxury vehicles, motorsports and racing teams, OEMs, and suppliers of parts and systems for everyday vehicles and SUVs have all benefited from our applications expertise and services for many of their engine, transmission, and structural components. Nitrex systems can be used as stand-alone solutions or in a production cell with complete lights-out operation to support production and final assembly lines. Our manufacturing 4.0 solutions include our proprietary software, controllers, carts, loading, and unloading stations that can be customized to meet your TAC times and annual production volumes. These solutions have proven their sustainability and efficiency in the high-volume automotive industry and can support any type of production volume.Defense & Armament
Defense: For over 35 years, Nitrex has contributed to the worldwide defense industry with our installed systems and services. The armed forces and top defense contractors need to keep developing new armaments, ships, submarines, aircraft, missiles, and systems. Many armed forces rely on Nitrex expertise in heat treating. Armament: Heat treating has long been recognized as a key process in the armament industry. Since the first swords made by forging iron in medieval times, heat treating has been used to make armaments more efficient and resistant. Today, Nitrex supports the armament and defense industry with turnkey heat-treating solutions for their most demanding innovations. Controlled goods: Nitrex also recognizes the need to protect defense customer data and we always keep our controlled-goods processes up to date. We maintain multiple accreditations to meet and exceed defense contractor requirements such as ITAR. Our compliance officers are fully trained to ensure that defense customers' data is protected, and we are proud to serve the men and women worldwide who protect our freedom and our way of life.Gears
Working with gear manufacturers over three decades, Nitrex has developed process- and application-specific know-how to help companies achieve process optimization in manufacturing, as well as ensure that heat-treated components meet or exceed performance and design expectations. Gears are subjected not only to wear but also to cyclical dynamic loads, calling for sufficient bending and contact fatigue resistance. Nitrex solutions enhance the physical properties of the gear surface to improve performance without altering the properties of the core, resulting in longer-lasting gears.
