Intelligent Heat-treating Solutions for every industry

  • Medical

Working with medical equipment and implant manufacturers for over three decades, Nitrex has developed process- and application-specific know-how to help medical manufacturers achieve process optimization in manufacturing, as well as ensure that heat-treated implants, tooling, and medical equipment meet or exceed performance and design expectations from the most stringent certification agencies in the world. Nitrex experts are always available to work with medical tool specialists and implant experts to develop new solutions that will support an aging and more active population that requires less invasive surgery and state of the art products to maintain their active lifestyle. There are four ways in which implants and tooling for the medical industry are made:
    • Machine milled or drilled
    • Casting – molten metal is poured into a mold
    • Forged – metal is shaped into its final form with the use of forces such as bending or hammering
    • Additive manufacturing
All these processes require heat treating, and Nitrex can provide the required expertise to meet the most stringent industry requirements and certification standards.
  • Mining

Mining is a key industry for many economies worldwide. The increasing number of mining projects has generated a growing demand for equipment and trucks for digging, conveying, and transporting equipment and minerals. Heat treating of many components made from hard alloys used in the mining industry is essential. These components, which are exposed to harsh environments and chemicals, need to able to sustain heavy usage and be available in remote areas where the nearest repair shop could be thousands of kilometers away. Nitrex has developed process- and application-specific know-how to help mining suppliers and services providers ensure that mining tools and equipment meet or exceed the performance and design expectations of the most mission-critical applications.
  • Oil and Gas

Nitrex heat-treating solutions for the oil and gas industry can help critical parts that are exposed to an extremely corrosive environment at high pressure withstand high wear demands. We have developed process- and application-specific know-how to help oil and gas suppliers and service providers ensure that tools and parts meet or exceed the performance and design expectations of the most mission-critical applications. For example, through our Nitreg®-C and ONC® technologies, we can increase the life expectancy of components by reducing wear caused by extreme conditions.
  • Power Generation & Energy

The power-generation industry continues to see radical innovations, and the reduction of traditional energy derived from carbon sources will open the door to new sources of energy in our day-to-day lives. Many components used in alternative sources of energy will have to be designed for extended life cycles and operation in harsh environments. Heat treating of multiple alloys used in the power-generation industry will change the energy sectors and provide clean and affordable energy to heat and light our homes and power our vehicles. In the meantime, legacy sources of energy such as nuclear, oil and gas, and hydroelectricity will remain and will continue to require that components last their maximum life cycle, producing energy for years to come until a new source is gradually found. We have developed process- and application-specific know-how to help manufacturers and suppliers to the power-generation and energy industries ensure that parts meet or exceed the performance and design expectations of the most mission-critical applications.
  • Precision Parts

Precision products have a diverse manufacturing base, with manufacturers producing complex parts and complete assemblies for finished goods such as automobiles, aircraft, heavy trucks, medical devices, appliances, construction equipment, and many more. Working with these industries and their different metal requirements for over three decades, Nitrex has developed process- and application-specific know-how to help companies achieve process optimization in manufacturing, as well as ensure that precision products meet or exceed performance and design expectations.
  • Tooling

Tooling is a critical element in the transformation and manufacturing of metal parts. The main phenomena limiting the useful life of tools are frictional wear and thermal fatigue in the case of hot-work tools. The cost of wear is very high, resulting not only from a shorter working life due to premature failure but also from the downtime involved in replacing the worn part or tool. Working with the tooling industry for over three decades, Nitrex has developed process- and application-specific know-how to help companies achieve process optimization in manufacturing, as well as ensure that tooling meets or exceeds performance and design expectations.
