We are proud to announce that Nitrex Querétaro, Mexico took home top honors at the prestigious Premio al Mérito Empresarial QRO 2020 Business Merit Award, winning 1st place in the category of competitiveness. The Premio al Mérito Empresarial is the highest industry recognition awarded by the Executive Authority of the State of Querétaro to organizations, companies, and institutions whose achievements drive foreign trade development, global competitiveness, and corporate social responsibility.
According to Marco Del Prete III, acting President of the award organizer committee, “For us the trajectory of organizations, companies, and institutions that stand out for their actions, all with a high commitment and love for Querétaro, deserve special recognition such as the Business Merit Award, coordinated by the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (CANACINTRA). Our involvement with the Government of the State of Querétaro, in conjunction with the Secretariat of Sustainable Development, allows us to actively participate and to award finalists in the following categories: Foreign Trade, Competitiveness, Sustainability & Environment, Social responsibility, and Science & Technology.” 2020 marks the eleventh edition of the Premio al Mérito Empresarial QRO, and this ever-growing contest celebrates one winner and several honourees in each category.
Carlos Llerena, Plant Manager at Nitrex Querétaro, commented: “We are extremely proud of the Nitrex Querétaro staff for receiving this recognition and are thankful to the contest’s organization and evaluating committees for bestowing this honor upon us and for recognizing our efforts in quality and continuous improvement as a means of increasing our competitiveness. Congratulations to the Nitrex Querétaro team and to all award recipients and honorees who continue to raise the bar of excellence for Queretaro’s and Mexico’s manufacturing standards.”
Each year, hundreds of applications are submitted to the competition. Following a multi-stage selection and verification process, the Evaluation Committee analyzes the applications considered for the award in the first round. The Executive Committee then conducts evaluations in two phases, firstly assessing QMS, business practices, environmental responsibility, labor laws, and government compliance, and secondly meeting to rank and select the winners and honorable nominees. Before COVID, awards were presented by the Governor of the State at a live ceremony; however, the presentation format has changed over the past two years and is now held as a hybrid format, one that combines a live meeting of participants with the virtual presence of the President of the Executive Committee.
