Chinese compressor vane producer Ningbo Yongwei Group Co. Ltd placed an order with Nitrex Metal for the supply of an NX-1635 turnkey nitriding system to replace an aging nitrider that failed to produce expected results.

With production volume slated to reach 50 million parts annually during the first phase of expansion, Ningbo Yongwei is spurring new investment in finishing operations and equipment. The company is working closely with Nitrex to improve their nitriding capabilities and ensure process reliability, product quality and performance.

The NX-1635 nitriding system has a load capacity of 17,600 pounds (8000 kg) and will nitride stainless steel compressor vanes used in air conditioning systems for residential and industrial markets worldwide. Nitreg®-S technology was customized and pre-tested for this application to ensure uniformity and repeatability of results, to adhere to performance specifications, as well as to achieve a consistent appearance of the vanes.

Installation and start-up of the new system were completed in the first quarter of 2018.
