MEET CLASS OF 2022 HONOREES CATHERINE AND JOHN, AND HEAR THEIR STORY

CATHERINE MACIAS, Laboratory Coordinator
Querétaro, Mexico

Catherine is an expert in metallographic preparation and analysis, and, as the person responsible for these analyses, she is crucial to ensuring the quality of Nitrex’s processes. Catherine is active in many other vital areas of Nitrex because of her experience, ambition, and leadership. For example, she is the internal auditor for IATF and is in charge of all inspection equipment and pyrometry. She oversees everything from calibration programs to compliance plans and ensures key regulatory requirements are met.
Always ready for new challenges, Catherine has proven to be a great team player since her arrival at Nitrex five years ago, frequently innovating and contributing to her area. She strives to keep the bar high on quality and makes a difference every day.

JOHN PINNELL, Mechanical Designer
Montréal, Canada

John began his time at Nitrex as a drafter and transitioned to designing and managing the SolidWorks CAD departments in Canada and Poland. He enjoys product development because it allows him to experiment with new ideas. In his R&D work, John redesigned prototypes for flow meters and endo generators and similarly expanded Nitrex’s nitriding furnace capacities.
Outside of R&D, John is an invaluable member of the ERP implementation team. His product knowledge and project participation helped with the proper technical setup of the company-wide ERP software. John is a dedicated and hardworking individual who is never afraid to take on new challenges in his career, embrace change, and expand his wide-ranging skill set.
