KARL-MICHAEL WINTER

VICE PRESIDENT GLOBAL R&D AND ENGINEERING

Karl-Michael Winter is responsible for leading Nitrex’s global research and development and engineering operations. As Vice President of Global R&D and Engineering, he plays a key role in enhancing the portfolio of our current products, processes, and technologies as well as contributing to the development and innovation of new product offerings. He was appointed to this position in mid-2019.

SPEARHEADING THE DEPLOYMENT OF IIOT SOLUTIONS IN OUR SMART PRODUCT PLATFORM

Michael is also responsible for spearheading the deployment of IIoT solutions in our smart product platform to enable remote monitoring and data acquisition, deeper operational analysis, and machine-to-machine interaction with the goal to improve operational efficiency, uptime, performance, and cost reduction.

He was previously Vice President R&D for United Process Controls (today UPC-Marathon) from 2007-2019 and responsible for software development with teams located in Canada, China Germany, Poland, and the USA. He joined Process-Electronic, the predecessor of UPC-Marathon, in 1998, where he was Managing Director for the company’s operations in Germany and France.

After completing his studies in electrical engineering with a focus on computer hardware and software, Michael started his career at AEG and Siemens, where he worked in the field of defense technology, specifically the development of communication modules. For more than twenty years, Michael is an active member of the AWT, the German Society for Heat-Treating and Materials, and a leading voice on the topic of furnace process controls and automation.
