The most popular nitriding and nitrocarburizing furnaces offered by us are pit- and horizontal-type batch furnaces. Other configurations, e.g. horizontal multi-chamber flow-through (continuous) or bell furnaces, are also available upon request.

All furnaces are equipped with the Nitrex control system, customized for each user. The main features of the furnace are:

• Inconel 600 (refractory steel) retort and racking for long service life and inactivity with regard to the nitriding atmosphere.

• Uniform temperature distribution, obtained through independently controlled heating zones and intensive atmosphere circulation ensuring full control of nitriding potential in all stages of the process.

• Light ceramic fiber insulation, reducing heat losses and thus energy consumption.
   
• Kanthal long lasting heating elements.

• Integrated cooling systems.
   
• Larger furnaces may be equipped with a 'Turbo' cooler, for accelerated cooling of the load. This option is used where productivity is a major issue.
   
• Some pit-type furnaces may be equipped with a vacuum purging system. This option significantly accelerates exchange of atmosphere in the retort and is very useful in nitriding of stainless steels.

In some special cases, old nitriding or nitrocarburizing furnaces may be retrofitted with the Nitrex control system. We shall be pleased to review each case and submit a decision by our Engineering Department.

NX-400 SERIES - Compact nitriding and nitrocarburizing furnaces

TThe multipurpose NX-400 series of nitriding / nitrocarburizing systems are an economical and dependable choice for use in small scale processing as well as for general laboratory/testing purposes. These furnaces have a compact construction that makes efficient use of restricted floor space in a plant. Available in three sizes, the furnace, control system and auxiliary equipment are integrated and mounted on a platform for secure transport by forklift; alternatively, the system may be physically separated back into individual components at the customer’s request. Every NX-400 system comes plug-and-play ready, so installation is quick and easy.
 

Horizontal Furnaces

The horizontal flow-through furnace developed by Nitrex Metal Inc is especially suitable for large-scale nitriding of plain carbon steel or low alloy steel components. Depending on the required throughput, the furnace may incorporate a variable number of independently heated and controlled zones.
